Kitchen Witchery
The essential oil of chives consists mainly of dipropyl disulfide, methyl pentyl disulfide, and penthanethiol. They contain vitamin A, vitamin C, potassium, and folic acid. Chives have been used to help lower blood pressure and aid digestion. They also stimulate the appetite and possess some antiseptic properties. Medicinally, eating chives can help to cleanse the digestive system, although eating too much of this herb has the opposite effect and can cause stomach ache.

Chives in Magick
Ruled by Mars, this powerful herb protects and strengthens the aura. This tasty herb, often used in cooking has always been popular for its ability to repel evil spirits. Because of this, it was often brought into the house and placed near doors and windows.

Learning about herbs is beneficial for both cooking and medicine making. Those who are naturally drawn to herbal magic have an affinity with Nature. They innerstand the power of plants, herbs, and flowers, and their place in the world. You do not control nature; you learn to work with it. The power to take control of your health is available to you.
